Following the continuous complains by different PDP stakeholders in Akwa Ibom of the inability of the State chairman of the party, Obong Paul Ekpo to conduct credible primaries for the party, the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu said the only solution is resignation. Muazu, who was responding to different issues bordering on the party in Akwa Ibom, told Obong Paul Ekpo that senior members of the party in the state are not comfortable with his leadership, advising him to resign.

Muazu further told the Akwa Ibom State chairman of PDP that the party at the national level is currently embarking on mission of restoring the integrity of the party, maintaining that the opinions of the elders matter most in the exercise. The national chairman however, said PDP under his watch is bound to regain its lost glories, which he said was his main target for the party at all levels. He noted that the leader of the party, President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered that due process be followed in the ongoing exercise of rebranding the party and commended Obong Paul Ekpo for his leadership style since his assumption as the state chairman.

The national chairman also commended the state Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio for his contributions to the progress of the party and pledged his total commitment to the progress of the party.

Earlier, Obong Paul Ekpo had told the national chairman of the party that those seeking for his removal as the state chairman of the party were either not accepted by their people or are unpopular politicians who want to win election on the platter of gold.

Paul Ekpo further stated that PDP under his care has witnessed a tremendous success in all ramifications, saying that he has no alternative than to adhere to any decision taken by the national secretariat of the party.
