About Dr. Samuel Udonsak

Dr. Samuel Udonsak, was born on 28th April, 1959 at Ikot Okoro in the present Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State to the Late Rev. Amos Udonsak of Ekpene, Afaha Eket and Deaconess (Mrs.) Naomi Udonsak . Rev. Amos Udonsak was a leading light and motivator in Qua Iboe Church of Nigeria. He was also the pioneer indigenous principal of Samuel Bill Theological College, Abak.

Dr. Samuel Udonsak had his primary education in several schools in the old Abak Division due to the itinerant nature of his father's pastoral duties. He had his secondary education at the prestigious Etinan Institute, 1972-1976 and higher school education at the School of Arts and Science, Uyo, 1976-1977 and proceeded to study Medicine at the University of Ibadan (Nigeria's Premier University), 1977-1983. He later attended the University of Leeds, UK, where he obtained a postgraduate Diploma in Cardiology, 1996.

As a medical student, Dr. Samuel Udonsak held several positions, and received many awards and honours amongst which are;

President, University of Ibadan Medical Students Association 1981/82.
Winner, Commonwealth Medical Elective Bursary 1982.
Member, Nigeria Delegation to the International Federation of Medical
Student's Association (IFMSA) Conference in Switzerland, 1981.
Leader, Nigeria Delegation to the Exchange Officers meeting of the International
Federation of Medical Students Association (IFMSA) in Germany, 1982.
Distinguished Service Award(UIMSA), 1983.


Post Graduation:

Publicity Secretary, Association of Resident Doctors (UCH), 1983/84.
Chairman's Award for Distinguished Service, NYSC, Benue State, 1985.

Dr. Samuel Udonsak Medical Practice spans through the following:

House of Surgeon/House Physician, University College Hospital, Ibadan, 1983/1984.
Medical Officer, Comprehensive Health Centre, Abocho, Benue State (NYSC), 1984/1985.
Staff Physician, Pamo Clinic and Hospital Ltd., Port Harcourt, 1985-1988.
Locum Physician, (Part-Time) MW Kellog , Estate Clinic, 1989-1996.
Medical Consultant, (Part-Time) NAFCON, 1996-1999.
Ag. Medical Director, (Part-Time) NAFCON, 1999-2005.

Motivated by his natural bent for service to the people, particularly the under privileged, Dr. Udonsak opted to establish his medical practice in the rural area of Onne, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State in 1988, where he remains the Medical Director till date. Today, the hospital is a successful story, going by the confidence it enjoys from its wide multi-ethnic and international clientele.

Dr. Samuel Udonsak returned to the People Democratic Party (PDP), a party he is a founding member, in September 2003. Dr. Udonsak was a National Delegate of the PDP - Eket, and participated in a National Convention of the Party in December, 2005.

Dr. Samuel Udonsak is an amiable personality with very pleasant social disposition and strong Christian values. He is married with children and maintains a very stable family life. His intellect, compassion, humility and charisma are great attributes germane to leadership, service to the people and good governance.
