Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday rewarded the victorious Under-17 team in cash at a dinner organised at the presidential villa.
Each player got two million Naira, while Coach Manu Garba returned home with the sum of N3m.
Emmanuel Amuneke, Manu’s assistant and the rest of the technical crew got 2.5 million Naira for their effort.
Other team officials received between 500,000 and 300,000 Naira.
The president promised to confer a national honour on the head coach subsequently and also called for support from private sectors in rewarding the patriotic Nigerians.
Nigeria defeated Mexico on Friday to clinch a record fourth Fifa U-17 World Cup title in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Her previous victory came in 1985, 1993 and 2007.
